“The calmness… and a wonderful, challenging, helpful experience”
I had the privilege of attending the Retreat facilitated by Rosemary Watkins in May at Nathanial’s Retreat, Mundaring. It was a small and intimate group of Solace members some looking for ways to manage our grief, tools to overcome our grief or a sense of closure for others. Whatever our initial thoughts were of the Retreat, it was an amazing experience which was enlightening. Many of the activities I found challenging but like all challenges there was a purpose and in the end I was grateful for the insights that they provided.
To share in another’s journey was a privilege and to experience the transformation that Rosemary gently guided us through was an amazing opportunity to renew, reflect and restore our inner selves. We immersed ourselves in the wonders of nature as the accommodation was nestled amongst the trees which allow us time to reflect in a picture perfect surrounding. To wander through the labyrinths, taking time to reflect on the previous session or simply enjoy communing with nature.
Rosemary adapted the activities to our personal needs, wants and desires. She provided a snap shot of the possibilities that we could create to help navigate the new reality we all are facing; a life without our loved one. Using the music, conservations and delving deep into souls to look at how our past grief experiences had impacted on our current situation. She provided new mindfulness tools, a yoga session and of course very yummy food to feed our souls.
I have taken on a few of the tools and willing to add the others down the track. Best of all I have gained many news friends that have a shared understanding of the road we are all travelling. I highly recommend, if the opportunity arises again, to attend the Retreat as I am very grateful of the experience and tools it has provided me.
